Where I muse about just about everything...
From the weather in Texas, to my kids, pets, travel and friendships. Basically, about life. And oh yeah, about my Coquette Bath & Home⢠products, too.
Well, almost. There is still a little to be done. I cut one 2x6 wrong (using the bad end...) and did the same thing with one of the 2x4's for the headboard leg. But the moulding turned out pretty nice. What do you think? The basic plan is from Ana-White.com. But I am (probably) going to modify it a bit. I really do not like the idea of a 2x4 front post. So probably am going to buy some turned legs and use those, instead. I've been using one of those metal frames, and it scoots around the floor. The center beam of it dropped out the other night and I've been pretty cautious every since. Since the bedroom floor is laminate, the bed, on its rollers, scoots. Oh well...
I have a bit of caulking to do. But I bought a pocket hole jig for screws and although you cannot see them (I flipped the headboard up for the pretty side showing for its photo), I'm pretty pleased with them. I didn't buy the expensive unit Ms. White is advertising (only because my local store didn't have it in stock and I wasn't going to wait for something to arrive by mail) but the store did have a pretty sturdy metal one. And I bought it. I'm trying to decide what color to paint the bed, now. I probably will go with white (or an offwhite) but I really do want to paint it apple green! But considering the rest of the room is gray and steel blue and white, and black...white is probably the best color. Next up...a new dining table. I really like making things! And now that my garage is cleaned out...I'm going to do just that!

At least, that's what the pundits say. But if you live in the southland, you know we have another month or so of fairly warm weather. The high today, I believe, was somewhere around 85. Plenty cool for this part of the country. Fairly warm elsewhere... In honor of this 'soon to be fall', here's a photo. For the record, I didn't take it. But when searching for a photo for the front page, this one jumped out at me. A russet and amber colored forest stroll...wish I were there. But it never gets into those gorgeous seasonal colors around here.
Pretty soon, because fall seems to race about, it will be winter. And, no matter where you live in the Northern Hemisphere, doors will be snugged tight and sweaters and boots will be the daily garb. I actually like winter clothing. I used to joke that I look better with as much clothes on as possible, LOL... Fall brings to mind football games, and tailgate parties. The crisp bite to the air. Not quite a 'nip', but definitely gets your attention. Long sleeves. Long pants legs. Wooly this and that. Christmas is coming too. And with the wintertime, I'll look for more inspiration photos to share. But for now, maybe you can dream a little dream with me. That I'm actually the one in the photo, bundled nicely against the cool air. Taking a leisurely stroll down a country lane. Hope your week is grand. |
