Where I muse about just about everything...
From the weather in Texas, to my kids, pets, travel and friendships. Basically, about life. And oh yeah, about my Coquette Bath & Home™ products, too.
Mother's Day is tomorrow. While I always a bit of discomfort when it comes to those 'hallmark holidays' this one seems appropriate. But I do take some exception with it. Like, why just one day!
I carried my children within my body for 9 months. I had swollen ankles, nausea, and it was really hard to sleep while they were taking tap dancing lessons within. I ballooned out (no other way to say it) to where my tummy nearly hit my knees when I sat down. I will say that I am a short person (5'4") and I also had kids that were nearly 2' long (and each was 10#, too) so the belly size rather went with the territory!
It was uncomfortable. I don't think I 'glowed' at all. I had troubles walking and with the hormones raging within my body, it is a miracle that I didn't lose my temper every moment of every day.
There's also nothing like that last month before your due date. Given that I was more round than tall, I was so anxious for that day. And by and by, both kids saw the light of the world. My son born 6/3/91 and my daughter born 4/11/94.
And while the pregnancies were absolutely NOT fun...the months of gestation were so worth it. I"m incredibly proud of both of them. Both are in college and moving on with their lives.
I'm also a daughter, obviously.
And that lovely lady above is my mom. Actually, I'm in the photo, too (hot pink shirt) but since this is about her...well there she is! Mom has a feisty personality and is never at a loss for words. Some of the same qualities that I have, actually. My dad passed away last fall (that's him in the white shirt next to me and behind mom) so Mom remains my solo parent.
Even though I'm way beyond my childhood, it still feels right to have a Mom. And whether you are one or not, surely you have one. If she is with you, how about a call or visit? If she isn't, might I suggest spending some time meditating on the 'circle of life'? We all come from somewhere, after all.
Creative. Witty. And usually somewhat wise. Mom of 2. Heritage: French & German. Born in the UK and raised in the USA.
