Okay, this just won't work. Just won't. It has been....NINE MONTHS, since my last post.
seriously, I have no excuse...except...well (thinking of one, now...).
okay, I got nothing. Except a new promise to do better at keeping in touch.
Not sure how many folks read this, but I hope people do. Of course, I write what I write to let you know a bit more about me and my process. Putting more 'human' in the 'handmade' as it were.
So, what has been going on? Well, actually now that I think about it, not all that much. The daily grind of life, work, family etc are still the same as ever. Everyone is well. Minor issues are being worked out (because life just does that, doesn't it?).
I'm thinking next steps, lately, though. I had a gift store in Fort Worth that closed in 2007. I still miss it. Every. Single. Day.
I miss walking in, turning on that open sign and welcoming people in. I miss helping them find those extra somethings (either for themselves or someone special) but back when the shop was open, I was also trying WAY too hard to be 'the store for everyone.'
Now everyone is ALWAYS welcome, but what I mean by 'store for everyone' is that I was trying to sell the same, or similar, items as every other store. Well DUH me! Why that silliness never occurred to me (and it didn't....not really) is mind boggling, now. Differentiation is the spice of life. Homogenized situations is only good with milk...seriously. Difference is good. So, next round...the shop will be different. More on that when/if it happens (but that's my daily prayer)...
In the meantime, I'll keep my focus on bringing out new products and new scents. I have a long list of 'maybe I should try this idea' and l like I do every few months, I'll blend a few things together and see if I like them.
